Choosing a Badminton Racket for Power or Control
Three numbers on a badminton racket tell you most of what you need to know.
Balance
A head-heavy racket adds power to clears and smashes. A head-light racket is quicker to swing, which helps at the net and in defense. An even balance sits between the two.
Flex
A flexible shaft helps players with a slower swing generate power. A stiff shaft rewards a fast, well-timed swing with more control.
Weight
Rackets are graded by weight (for example 3U or 4U). Lighter rackets are easier to handle for long sessions; heavier ones feel more stable.
