Running Gear Essentials for Comfort and Injury Prevention
Running needs little equipment, which makes the few pieces you do use matter more.
Shoes
Choose shoes for comfort and fit rather than looks. Your foot should not slide inside, and there should be a thumb’s width of room at the toes.
Socks and clothing
Technical socks reduce blisters. Layers you can take off are better than one heavy top in cold weather.
Build gradually
Increase distance a little at a time, and take rest days. Pain that changes how you run is a reason to stop.
